Afgelopen donderdag was ik weer bij Joris en natuurlijk wilde hij weten of ik nog iets leuks had meegemaakt. Ik vertelde hem het hele verhaal van die homo en dat vond hij geweldig. Vooral dat zijn baas hem uitgenodigd had. Hij lag helemaal dubbel en vond het jammer dat hij er niet bij was geweest. Iets dat ik me heel goed kan voorstellen.
Nadat we koffie gedronken hadden ben ik aan mijn werk begonnen. Het gaat me nu goed af en gelukkig vroeg hij niet veel, dus ik kon lekker doorwerken. Intussen zat ik na te denken over de feestdagen en over zijn kinderen. Ik vroeg me af of ze hem dan komen opzoeken, ik hoop het voor hem. Het lijkt me vreselijk om met zo’n dagen alleen te moeten zitten. Nu ik er zo over nadenk had ik het moeten vragen, maar dat kan ik alsnog doen.
Maar goed even iets anders. Gisteravond moest ik zoals altijd werken. Het was niet druk, maar zo rond een uur of zeven kwam er ineens een jongetje naar binnen, helemaal alleen, ik schatte hem een jaar of zes zeven, niet ouder. Hij keek rond en liep naar de wc. Toen hij de deur achter zich had dicht gedaan drong ineens tot me door dat hij eigenlijk veel te jong was om alleen naar de wc te gaan. Normaal gesproken gebeurt dat nooit. Maar goed toen hij klaar was liep hij naar de wastafel en ging zijn handen wassen. ‘Zo,’ begon ik voorzichtig, ‘jij bent best al een grote knul.’ Hij knikte blij: ‘Ik mag dat altijd, alleen naar de wc gaan. Ik ken dat ook goed alleen.’
‘Dat zie ik,’ zei ik lachend, ‘maar helemaal alleen ben je hier niet? Zijn pappa en mamma bij je?’ Hij knikte blij terwijl hij zijn handen afdroogde.
‘Ja, en pappa heeft me een verrassing beloofd.’
‘Oh, wat leuk, best wel spannend.’
Hij lachte: ‘Ja, ik mag zondag de schoen zetten en mamma ook.’
‘Zo, mag mamma dat ook?’
‘Ja, pappa denkt dat ik nog in sinterklaas geloof, daarom mag mamma dat ook. Pappa zet de schoen niet, hij zegt dat hij weet dat hij toch niks krijgt.’
‘Nou, dat is niet leuk, maar misschien dat jij dan zijn schoen zet en er iets instopt, een stukje chocola of een letter. Dan vertel je hem dat Sinterklaas hem toch een cadeautje heeft gebracht.’
‘Dat wil ik wel doen, maar mamma wil dat niet. Ze zegt dat hij heel erg stout is.’
Ik keek naar dat jochie en dacht even dat hij een grapje maakte, maar hij was bloedserieus.
‘Zo stout zal pappa toch wel niet zijn?’
‘Mamma zegt van wel.’ Hij keek naar de deur en toen hij zag dat die nog steeds dicht was ging hij verder. ‘Pappa heeft met een poesje gespeeld.’
‘Oh,’ zei ik verbaasd: ‘en dat mag hij niet?’
Hij schudde zijn hoofd: ‘Dat poesje was van een mevrouw die mamma niet kent.’
Het duurde héél even, maar toen viel het kwartje! Ik wist ook niet zo gauw wat ik zeggen moest, maar dat hoefde niet.
‘Pappa vindt poesjes leuk, daarom mag hij de schoen niet zetten van mamma. Ik vind dat stom! Poesjes zijn toch leuk?’
Heel even kwam ik in de verleiding hem uit te leggen wat ze bedoelden, maar dat mag zijn vader zelf doen! Dus heb ik enkel maar wat geknikt!
