Gisteravond zat ik net op de bank toen Wim ineens vroeg of ik zin had om met hem naar de film te gaan. Ik was stomverbaasd, zeker omdat ik weet dat hij daar een hekel heeft, maar ik wist meteen waarom hij dat vroeg. Hij wilt er echt alles aan doen om het tussen ons weer goed te krijgen, zelfs naar de film gaan. Even kwam ik in de verleiding om iets hatelijks te zeggen, maar ik kon me nog net beheersen. ‘Het ligt eraan,’ zei ik, ‘als er iets leuks draait misschien.’ Ik dacht nog, nou ik weet zeker dat er niks leuks draait, nu niet en volgende week ook niet.
‘Je mag zelf een film uitzoeken, mij maakt het niet uit, ik hoor het wel,’ zei hij terwijl hij me hoopvol aankeek. Ik knikte maar wat, maar zei niks meer. Gelukkig ging hij er verder niet meer op in. Hij blijft ook aardig doen en zich uitsloven. Ook laat hij nog steeds merken dat hij met me naar bed wilt, maar daar reageer ik niet op, daar heb ik ook geen zin in. Afgelopen dinsdag was ik nog bij Ruud, maar hij was niet thuis. Wel had hij een briefje voor me achter gelaten.

Nou dat was het dan, ik baalde behoorlijk, heb ook niet veel gedaan, alleen het hoognodige, meer niet. Ik dacht, ik vind het wel goed zo. Ben benieuwd wanneer hij belt.
Maar goed even nog over mijn werk. Gisteravond moest ik onverwacht werken. Er was een besloten avond, een personeelsfeest, zodoende. Ik vond het niet erg omdat ik later mocht beginnen en vroeg klaar zou zijn. Maar goed, ik zat net lekker te lezen toen er een vrouw naar binnen kwam, ze groette kort en liep naar de wc. Even later ging weer de deur open en kwamen twee meisjes naar binnen, ik schatte ze ergens rond de 20, niet veel ouder. Ze liepen door en vlak bij de wastafels bleven ze staan.
‘Pfff,’ begon een van hen, ‘ik ben blij als het voorbij is, wat een avond! Ik had me hier wel een beetje op verheugd.’
‘Vertel mij wat,’ ging de ander verder. ‘Anders ik wel, madam moest zo nodig speechen. Ik dacht dat ik niet goed werd toen ze begon, en dan ook nog hoe!’
‘Ja, met dat lepeltje tegen een glas aantikken, “Dames mag ik even jullie aandacht!” viel de ander weer bij. ‘Dat doe je toch niet op een personeelsfeest! Ons een beetje vertellen waar we allemaal op letten moeten, dat we meer tijd aan de bejaarden moeten besteden en naar ze luisteren en weet ik wat allemaal.’
‘Ja, en heb je ook gezien wat ze aan heeft. Die jurk heeft ze vast van haar oma geërfd, kan niet anders.’
‘Nou, en dat stemmetje dat ze opzette, zo bekakt en uit de hoogte, vreselijk wat een truttenbel. Ik hoop echt dat ze de rest van de avond haar mond dichthoud, anders ga ik naar huis.’
Ze giechelde en trok een raar gezicht. Net op dat moment ging de wc deur open en kwam die vrouw naar buiten. ‘Zo dames,’ zei ze heel vriendelijk. ‘het is wel gezellig en het eten is uitstekend, toch?’ Ze lachte vriendelijk en liep naar de wastafel. Ik zag dat die twee meisjes vreselijk geschrokken waren. Ze keken elkaar aan, knikten naar die vrouw en liepen naar buiten.
Toen ze weg waren keek die vrouw naar mij en zei: ‘Tja, zo kom je nogeens wat te weten. Maar ik weet zeker dat ze heel gauw ander werk gaan zoeken en daar ga ik voor zorgen!’
Lachend liep ze naar de deur!
Nou, een ding is zeker, ik ben blij dat mij dat niet gebeurd is. HEEL BlIJ!
Achter de rug om roddelen, maar in het gezicht niets durven zeggen. Zo zijn vele mensen ( achterbaks ). En wat Ruud betreft die had van mij allang de bons gehad……Margriet moet niet met zich laten dollen.
