Afgelopen dinsdag was ik net thuis van mijn werk bij Joris toen ik mijn mobiele telefoon hoorde overgaan. Omdat ik normaal gesproken die telefoon niet veel gebruik én nieuwsgierig ben keek ik wie er belde. Ik zag enkel een nummer, meer niet, maar nam toch op. Het was Ruud, mijn oude baas. Ik schrok toen ik zijn stem hoorde.
‘Hallo Margriet,’ begon hij. ‘ik hoop niet dat ik stoor, maar voordat ik verder ga allereerst nog de beste wensen.’ Ik mompelde iets van: ‘ Dank je wel, jij ook,’ en vroeg me af waarom hij belde.
‘Ik bel eigenlijk om te vragen hoe het met je gaat, maar ook omdat ik je iets vragen wil.’ Ik zuchtte diep en zei: ‘Goed,’ verder niks, intussen vroeg ik me af wat hij vragen wilde.
‘Het is zo,’ begon hij, ‘Voel je er wat voor om weer bij mij te komen werken?’
Ik dacht aan zijn nieuwe vlam en zei: ‘Dat zal moeilijk gaan, ik heb ander werk gevonden en dat bevalt me prima.’ Hij zuchtte: ‘Ik weet dat ik me niet netjes gedragen heb, maar dat kwam door mijn vriendin. Dat is trouwens ook niks geworden, maar daar ga ik jou niet mee lastig vallen. Ik zit echt omhoog en ik zou het fijn vinden als je me kwam helpen, al was het maar een paar uurtjes.’
‘Ik weet niet of ik daar nog aan beginnen kan, het is zoals ik al zei, ik heb een nieuw adres en zodoende weinig tijd,’ antwoordde ik op vlakke toon.
Hij zuchtte diep: ‘Je zou me een heel groot plezier doen, als je het zou doen. Bovendien wil ik graag wat extra’s geven en je mag zelf bepalen welke dag jou het beste uitkomt.’
Ik dacht terug aan de seks die we gehad hadden, die was goed, ook aan het feit dat hij weer vrijgezel was. ‘Goed,’ zei ik: ‘Ik denk dat ik wel een paar uurtjes vrij maken.’
‘Geweldig, ’ reageerde hij enthousiast. ‘Wanneer heb je tijd om even langs te komen, dan kunnen we koffie drinken.’
‘Vanavond heb ik wel even, zo rond een uur of acht?’
‘Fijn, zie je straks.’
Ik verbrak de verbinding en ging even zitten om bij te komen. Er ging van alles door me heen, en ik betrapte me erop dat ik hoopte dat het weer zou worden zoals het eerst was. Dat het met die vriendin niks geworden was, vond ik prachtig.
Voordat ik ging had ik me opgetut, een kort jurkje en schoenen met hoge hakken aangetrokken. Wim hoefde ik niks uit te leggen, hij was weer eens weg en dat kwam me nu héél goed uit!
Toen ik aanbelde ging vrijwel meteen de deur open. Hij begroette me vriendelijk, maar niet overdreven. Geen kus natuurlijk, wel een hand, verder niks, maar ik kreeg wel kriebels in mijn buik toen ik hem weer zag. We hebben koffie gedronken en even gezellig zitten praten. Hij zat tegenover me en dat vond ik wel prettig, Ik zag ook dat hij regelmatig naar mijn benen keek. Maar hij maakte geen opmerkingen. Wel bood hij nogeens zijn excuses aan en vroeg of ik toch niet weer wilde komen. Ik heb nu met hem afgesproken dat ik om de veertien dagen woensdagsmiddags een paar uurtjes kom werken. Ik begin volgende week en verheug me er nu al op. Iets later beginnen dan afgesproken én dus ook iets langer blijven. Tot hij thuis komt van zijn werk! Kijken hoe het gaat!
