Heel vaak hoor je het iemand zeggen: “Je moet meer van het leven genieten.” Dan knikken de meeste mensen en denken: Ja, Ja, maar nu heb ik andere dingen aan mijn hoofd. Dingen van alledag, kleine en grote zorgen.
Kleine kinderen kunnen dat wel heel goed, ze genieten van kleine onschuldige dingetjes. Een ijsje na het eten, een uurtje langer opblijven en van eten dat ze lekker vinden. Frietjes, de meeste kinderen én ook grote mensen vinden ze lekker, ze genieten ervan , net zoals kleine kinderen.
Eten dat je niet lekker vindt laat je staan, je schuift je bord aan de kant en gaat op zoek naar iets anders, eten waar je wel van kan genieten.
Want genieten doen we graag. Languit in bad liggen is heerlijk en werkt heel ontspannend.
Net zoals veel andere dingen. Een dagje naar de sauna, uitslapen, een dagje naar het strand en genieten van de zon en de zee.
Waar je ook van kan genieten is geld, tenminste als je dat hebt. Dan kan je veel, uit eten gaan, nieuwe kleren kopen, je huis opknappen, op vakantie gaan en nog veel meer. Maar, de vraag is of je daar ook van geniet!
Stel, je partner wilt dolgraag een lange reis maken naar Verweggistan en jij wilt dat niet. Dan heb je een probleem dat je samen moet oplossen. Iets anders bedenken, maar wat?
Van seks kan je genieten, maar als je partner elke avond wilt en jij niet, geniet je niet, hij niet en jij ook niet.
Winkelen is ook leuk, ook daar kan je van genieten, maar dan moet je wel geld hebben, anders is er niks aan.
Tuinieren is ook zoiets, als je het gras net hebt gemaaid en leuke planten in je tuin hebt gezet, kan je daar van genieten. Dat wil zeggen, als het klaar is. Als je bezig bent geniet je daar écht niet van.
Net zoals wandelen, de een vindt het prachtig, de ander blijft liever thuis.
Toch zijn er mensen die beweren van alles te genieten. Als ze de hele dag hard werken lopen ze de hele dag rond met een big smile. Als je dan vraagt of ze het leuk vinden knikken ze blij!
Dat soort mensen geniet ook van onkruid uittrekken, de vuilnis buiten zetten en behang van de muur trekken, zeggen ze.
Ik noem dat soort mensen: leden van de blije kippenvereniging!omdat ze niet erg geloofwaardig over komen.
Pas geleden trof ik een oude bekende en we raakten aan de praat. Ze vroeg hoe het met me ging en hoe mijn verjaardag was geweest. Dus vertelde ik dat ik erg verwend was en genoten had. Ze knikte blij en zei: “Dat is goed, zeker nu je wat ouder bent moet je meer van het leven genieten en je lekker laten verwennen. Mijn man verwent mij ook, vroeger niet, maar nu wel.
Sinds hij niet meer werkt doet hij het huishouden, hij maakt schoon, doet de boodschappen, zorgt voor de was en dat soort dingen.”
Ik knikte en vroeg wat ze dan zelf zoal deed op een dag. “Heb je leuke hobby’s?”
